Mountain bikes

Todays enthusiam with unrealalistic high tech mountain bikes, that the rider can have capabilities to jump off huge cliffs and you dont even hardly feel the landing is amazing. the market for bikes has grown very steady in the past 10 years it has gone up by 15 percent, and in the last three years another 30 percent. I have been riding for about 5 years now and really love it,nothing like going out for a good ride on a nice day. So i thought i would do a update on some excellent brands of mountain bikes.

Nice trail

What type of bike are you looking for?

So your looking into getting a mountain bike, and just not sure which one to get. Well maybe i can help you there is so many different brands of bikes out there to choose from costing up in the five and six thousand dollar range for the top of the line ones, and you definatley get what you pay for with some of those bikes but lets be realalistic. It basically depends on what type of riding you are planning on doing. If your just gona go out for a stroll around the neihborhood than i would suggest buying an inexpensive bike, around the two or three hundred dollar range. One that has some front or rear suspension to help with the speed bump or curb something, cause with no suspension it is a little rough on the behind.

A little more extreme

If your wanting a bike to take out in the hills or on some rougher terrain. Look into getting a bike that is around the the five to eight hundred dollar range, these will have both front and rear suspension 80% of the time. So those bumps are even smoother than before, dont even feel that speed bump now

Very durable

Now for the lttle bit more cycle enthusiast, or if you are maybe taking it out and seeing if you can break it. Than you should get a bike that is more towards the 1000 to 2500 dollar range these bike are built to hold up to some fairly tougher terrain and should last the buyer alot longer compared to a cheaper model with front and rear suspension. The shocks are alot tougher with more adjustments, to help with control on the rocky terrain.

The ultimate

Last is the ultimate bikes, if your a rider that is just a adrenaline jukie than this is your bike. These kind of bikes are extremely tough and are capable of jumping huge 30 foot drops or more if you can handle it, they all come with very advanced shocks with 10 or even 12 inches of travel. So jumping off a 12 foot drop is no problem or taking it downhill on some jagged terrain is like a ride in the park, dont even feel the rocks. So those are some prices and some info that might help you decide which mountain bike your going to buy!!

Some brands to look for.

  • Trek is always a good brand to look into buy they have came along way in the biking world and are one of the top brands out there.session 10or one of the newer trek bikes that are out, are in my opinion the top of the line bike. As good as they get, but your going to pay for it though prices range anywhere from three to five thousand. On the good side of that youll never have to buy another bike again!! One of the best ways to get the perfect bike for you is to build it, Not a hard task by anymeans. Can get the best quality of shocks, tires, frames that you prefer.

  •  Specialized is another brand with top ratings on their bikes, good for anyone looking into getting a first mountain bike or even maybe an upgrade from their old bike.

Very interesting hub. You'd have to be pretty hard core to ride a bike off a 12 foot cliff and I can't even imagine attempting a 30 foot one.

Yeah dude! We have some hard core mountain bikers up here in the San Juan Mountains. I saw a 7 year old kid doing some stuff I wouldn't do yesterday! Great post.

Good hub jabyrd! For a cross-country bike have you ever ridden a Scott? I bought a Scale 50 a year and a half ago and that sucker climbs like a dream.

Just moved to Albuquerque three weeks ago so I'm just beginning to learn the trails here.

Thanks for the info.
